JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Sustaining Nuclear, the Senior Manager, Operations is the definitive operational and financial leader for the site. This role carries full accountability for all site operations, encompassing the Nuclear Waste Sorting and Segregation (S&S) Facilities and Isotope Production operations. The Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Quality Assurance, and financial performance (P&L) are met across all assigned facilities and programs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Full Accountability for Site P&L:
    • Manage the facilities P&L statement, including developing, managing, and controlling the annual operating and capital budgets, KPI development and performance tracking.
    • Assist in establishing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on project key performance indicators, driving safety and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Leadership:
    • Oversee and direct all Sorting and Segregation (S&S) activities and Isotope Production operations, ensuring safety, maximum efficiency, compliance, and adherence to all operating procedures. This includes directly mentoring, leading and managing a team consisting of Site Managers, First line Managers (FLM), First Line Manager Assistants (FLMa) and Radiation Protection Technicians.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Own the site's Safety performance; implement and enforce a robust safety management system, radiation protection program, and ensure strict compliance with all nuclear regulations and facility permits.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor and manage all work executed by the Operations organization to ensure Quality and business targets are met as committed to the client.
    • Oversee waste acceptance criteria and ensure accurate waste tracking and inventory.
  • Contract Management:
    • Manage and negotiate client contracts and agreements, ensuring clarity in the scope of work for services and materials related to S&S and isotope production operations.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Identify risks for executing on-site operations and manage those risks by developing mitigating strategies and recovery plans.
    • Identify business and operational improvements as input to long-term strategic activities.
    • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, vendors and/or clients to achieve project milestones and overall success.
  • Integration and Reporting:
    • Coordinate and integrate execution activities with other site managers and support groups.
    • Provide regular progress reports on safety, quality, and business targets (P&L) to both line management and clients.
    • Ensure timely escalation of high-priority matters to relevant stakeholders where appropriate and ensure timely resolution.
  • Project Development:
    • Manage the conceptual development and definition of capex operational projects, including potential partnership structures for development projects.
  • Other duties as required
EXPERIENCE

We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have:

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in operations management within nuclear sector.
  • Strong strategic and facilitative leadership skills with a minimum of 3-5 years of management experience coaching, supporting and developing a high-performing team is required.
  • Proven experience managing unionized staff and working within collective bargaining agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience in nuclear facility operations, including waste processing (Sort & Segregation), decontamination, or isotope production.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling complex operations in a high-stakes environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
