Proofreader

This role will follow a hybrid remote/onsite schedule. Applicants for this role can expect to work on‑site from our Ottawa Head Office, on Walkley Road, on an as‑needed basis.

To provide proofreading and quality control across all channels of Marketing.

• Proofread for accuracy of offers, English copy, pricing and photography, for completeness and conformity with Giant Tiger standards


• Ensure consistency through all marketing materials.


• Provide proofreading for the Marketing group including flyer, private brand packaging, digital content, signs, loyalty and local advertising projects


• Coordinate flyer proofs with multiple teams including Buying, Marketing, Translation, external vendors and Creative Services and ensure checkpoints are met.


• Extract information from various sources and communicate all relevant details to the production team.


• Ensure all flyer deadlines are met


• Create weekly, monthly, and seasonal sign batches for stores


• Create reference documents to facilitate flyer and sign production

• Post‑secondary education in a related field (Journalism, Proofreader, Legal Assistant, Copywriter)


• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a proofreader/editor


• Superior attention to detail and quality


• Proven ability to seek out information and ask the right questions


• Experience working with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


• Ability to multi‑task and to meet strict deadlines


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Possess a positive, flexible, energetic, and team‑oriented attitude

• Bilingual English and French

$45,600.00 - $68,500.00

The salary range for this position is listed above. Giant Tiger will consider factors such as experience, skills and internal equity to ensure you are paid competitively.
