A healthcare provider in Alberta is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Mannville Care Centre. The role emphasizes leadership and client-centered care within an interdisciplinary team. Mannville, Alberta, offers a quiet rural setting with access to nearby conveniences. The community features local amenities and services, including schooling from preschool to Grade 12, a coffee shop, bakery, Co-op grocery, and healthcare facilities. The Mannville Care Centre is a 23-bed unit located in a rural setting where Registered Nurses work within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide client-centered care. The RN/RPN will provide leadership, direction, supervision, mentoring, constructive feedback and client care coordination to other professionals and unregulated staff. This role emphasizes coordination, critical thinking to plan, assess, implement and evaluate client-centered care, with a focus on elderly clients, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, charge nurse responsibilities, and leadership training are assets.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, and you will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient- and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid according to the listed rate; upon registration, pay is adjusted to the rate applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Basic computer skills. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities. The ability to work shift work. The ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education is an asset. Experience in a Continuing Care environment within the last three years. Experience with the interRAI LTCF and Connect Care.
