Job description
About Fòs Feminista

Fòs Feminista is an intersectional feminist organization centered around the sexual and reproductive rights and needs of women, girls, and gender‑diverse people. Led and governed by the Global South, Fòs Feminista works as an alliance of organizations in 35 countries worldwide to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ). Fòs Feminista is both the connective tissue that links these diverse partners in an alliance and an active participant in the broader ecosystem of actors working on SRHRJ. We connect partners across movements and borders, amplify innovative partner‑led solutions, and catalyze political will and resources for an intersectional feminist agenda on SRHRJ. Together with our partners, we provide access to health care and services — including contraception, abortion, and care for survivors of gender‑based violence — engage young people with comprehensive sexuality education, and advocate globally for gender and reproductive justice.

Position Summary

The Senior Global Advocacy Officer, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) reports directly to the Chief Global Advocacy Officer and serves as a strategic focal point responsible for designing, implementing, and managing advocacy strategies that link national, regional, and global processes to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ) from an intersectional feminist perspective. The incumbent ensures effective coordination across regional and global levels and provides clear leadership in influencing regional negotiations and political processes and must demonstrate a strong commitment to Fòs Feminista’s principles and values, social justice, equity, solidarity, and non‑discrimination, aligned with advancing SRHRJ for women, girls, and gender‑diverse people, especially in the Global South.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Advocacy Leadership and Accountability
    • Design, lead, and deliver the LAC regional advocacy workplan aligned with Fòs Feminista’s strategic plan and advocacy strategy.
    • Coordinate closely with partners in the region to shape and implement an influence strategy for regional negotiations and policy processes (e.g., CEPAL, OAS, Inter‑American System on Human Rights).
    • Monitor and report quarterly on advocacy progress, outcomes, and lessons learned, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organizational priorities.
    • Lead internal planning processes for the regional advocacy portfolio, ensuring efficient execution of work plans and budgets.
  2. Regional Representation and Diplomatic Engagement
    • Build and maintain high‑level relationships with regional diplomats/ delegations and UN agencies engaged in CEPAL, OAS, and other intergovernmental and political processes to advance Fòs Feminista’s priorities.
    • Coordinate formal and informal engagements (bilateral meetings, dialogues, side events) to influence positions and strengthen visibility of SRHRJ issues.
    • Represent Fòs Feminista in regional political and advocacy forums as a credible and strategic voice of feminist movements in the region.
  3. Partnership Building and Coordination
    • Strengthen and manage strategic partnerships with alliance members, regional CSOs, feminist networks, and allied movements (youth, disability, climate, indigenous, migration, and economic justice).
    • Ensure regular coordination with LAC partners through strategic planning sessions, partner briefings, and shared advocacy agendas.
    • Facilitate meaningful participation of regional partners in global multilateral spaces (e.g., CSW, CPD, HLPF), ensuring preparation, briefing, and post‑event follow‑up.
  4. Internal Organizational Leadership and Management
    • Lead Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of regional advocacy efforts, in line with the Accountability and Learning Framework collaborating with the Business Intelligence, Evaluation, and Research team, producing quarterly reports on progress and results.
    • Conduct annual reviews of advocacy achievements to inform future planning and resource allocation.
    • Contribute to resource mobilization, including identifying funding opportunities, supporting proposal writing, and ensuring measurable advocacy components in proposals.
    • Ensure internal accountability by maintaining complete documentation of advocacy activities, partnership engagements, and results in internal systems.
    • Collaborate cross‑functionally with other global advocacy focal points to ensure strategic coherence and knowledge sharing across regions.
  5. Knowledge Production and Strategic Communications
    • Develop policy briefs, advocacy toolkits, and feminist analysis that advance SRHRJ priorities in the region.
    • Synthesize and disseminate regional political intelligence—including policy shifts, negotiation outcomes, and advocacy opportunities—to inform organizational strategies.
    • Promote south‑south learning and knowledge exchange among alliance members through briefings, roundtables, and collaborative advocacy projects.
  6. Capacity Strengthening, Movement Building, and Strategic Litigation
    • Design and implement capacity‑building initiatives for alliance members and partners, focusing on advocacy in multilateral and regional policy spaces, negotiation influence, and diplomacy.
    • Serve as the primary liaison for the Center for Strategic Litigation, coordinating efforts to integrate litigation as a strategic advocacy tool to advance SRHR and gender justice. Support training, knowledge exchange, and documentation of strategic litigation as advocacy tools.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in advocacy, policy influence, or multilateral engagement, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Proven track record of leading measurable advocacy strategies and managing regional partnerships.
  • Strong diplomatic communication and negotiation skills, with experience engaging government and multilateral representatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal development, M&E, and internal coordination.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish (Portuguese desirable).
  • Deep commitment to intersectional feminist principles and advancing SRHRJ.
Location

This position is fully remote and preferably based in the LAC region.
