Title: Director, Global Facilities & Critical Environments

Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The role

The Director, Global Facilities & Critical Environments is responsible for the strategic, operational, and risk‑managed oversight of Scotiabank’s global corporate offices, regional hubs, operational centres, and mission‑critical environments. This role ensures the reliability, resiliency, safety, and efficiency of all facilities and critical infrastructure while delivering a high‑performing workplace experience that supports the bank’s employees and business operations worldwide.

With deep expertise in facilities management, critical environments, and corporate real‑estate operations within a financial institution, this director leads a multidisciplinary global team—including facility managers, asset managers, critical systems specialists, tax and compliance experts, environmental health & safety, and small project delivery teams.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Lead a high‑performing global team of facilities, engineering, asset management, taxation, and project delivery professionals.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop talent pipelines, succession plans, and global workforce capability frameworks to support operational excellence.
  • Mentor senior managers and regional leaders, enabling localized agility within a unified global governance structure.
Vendor, Partner & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead strategic vendor management for all major facilities and critical environment contracts, ensuring performance, service quality, and cost optimization.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Technology, Risk, Finance, Procurement, Security, HR, Operations, and business line leadership.
  • Represent the bank in regulatory, industry, and compliance forums related to facility operations, critical systems, training, and building standards.
  • Oversee global operating and capital budgets, cost‑efficiency programs, and long‑range asset replacement strategies.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, tax compliance, asset performance reporting, and budgeting across regions.
  • Lead financial and technical due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and new site evaluations.
  • Direct small projects teams in delivering workplace improvements, relocations, critical system upgrades, and facility optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure capital projects, engineering upgrades, and infrastructure renewals are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Drive enterprise‑wide sustainability and energy‑management initiatives to meet the bank’s ESG commitments.
Overall
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
  • Foster a high‑performance, inclusive team environment with a focus on coaching, succession planning, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to Scotiabank’s risk culture, compliance obligations, and business controls.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
  • 12+ years of experience in facilities management, critical environment operations, or corporate real‑estate within a major bank, data‑centre‑intensive organization, or global facilities management firm.
  • Proven experience leading large, geographically dispersed global teams across multiple time zones and cultural environments.
  • Deep expertise in critical systems operations including electrical, mechanical, life safety, building automation, and data‑centre infrastructure.
  • Strong technical understanding of operational resilience, business continuity, occupational health & safety, and regulatory compliance within the financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated success in vendor management, contract negotiations, performance assurance, and relationship management with large service providers.
  • Excellent communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Experience overseeing large operating and capital budgets, asset lifecycle management, and cost‑optimization programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Relevant credentials such as IFMA, BOMA, PMP, P.Eng, or equivalent are considered assets.
What’s in it for you?
  • A rewarding career path with diverse opportunities for professional development.
  • A culture that promotes teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration to achieve business goals. Inclusive workplace that values diversity of thought, background, and experience.
  • An organization committed to making a difference in our communities – for you and our customers.
