Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. The ICU at NHH has advanced the level of care offered from a mixed Level 2 Basic/Advanced Unit to a Level 3 Basic Unit. This position is for nurses with minimal experience in a critical care environment to complete a Critical Care Sponsorship.
Part-time staff will begin with part time hours, and transition to full-time hours during the sponsorship period for three months and then revert back to part time hours upon successful completion of the course.
The successful incumbent will meet the requirements of the position description for Registered Nurse ICU and act as a team member with specific responsibility for performance of professional nursing care to a patient or group of patients as assigned.
The hospital currently has five vacancies for novice nurses who do not possess a critical care certification.
Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was completed less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
