Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Maintains the cleanliness of the facility, property, and/or grounds in compliance with applicable standards at Belkin House Communities of Hope.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, including residential rooms, common areas, classrooms, lobby areas, and other common areas as may be assigned such as dining room, kitchen, laundry rooms, multi-purpose room, and staff work areas and offices.
Performs sweeping, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage, vacuums.
Checks, cleans, moves, arranges, and dusts furniture as required.
Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as balcony areas, keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, cleaning main floors, outside windows, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, gardening/watering and pruning shrubs, raking.
Participates in ensuring building security, checks doors and windows to ensure they are locked and secure.
Reports health and safety related concerns and repair issues (e.g. furniture and fixtures) that affect or may affect the workplace and residential environment for staff and residents.
Restocks washroom supplies and hand hygiene units.
Spot washes accessible walls, strips and waxes floors, and shampoos carpet.
May participate in dorm room, office, and/or classroom furniture moving.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Frequently operates industrial cleaning equipment and tools, mopping/sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, shoveling snow, etc.
Frequently lifts items such as garbage, laundry, and other workspace-related items (not normally to exceed 25 lbs; for weights exceeding 25 lbs, proper manpower and equipment will be supplied and utilized).
Requires moderate to high attention when using motorized equipment, handling hazardous chemicals, and using non-motorized equipment and general cleaning.
Note:Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of Public School
WHMIS Training
BSW Level 1 training
Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
Up to three months of prior related experience, including previous cleaning experience and familiarity with cleaning supplies and procedure.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $22.32 to $22.57 with a maximum of $22.82.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
