Casual RN

Reporting to and under the direction of the Resident Care Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides quality nursing care that identifies needs of individual residents and develops a nursing care plan to ensure comprehensive care; provides direct nursing care based on the care plan, medical orders, Donwood Manor Resident Bill of Rights, Mission Statement, nursing objectives and policies, WRHA/Manitoba Health standards and provincial nursing regulations; assigns tasks; provides guidance to and evaluates the work performed by other nursing team members to ensure high quality of care and optimum utilization of staff; maintains accurate, appropriate, informative records of nursing observations, health conditions and care given.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • RN with registration in good standing (CRNM);
  • Prior experience in long-term care preferred;
  • Experience in supervisory roles;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with residents and their families in problem-solving;
  • Understanding of gerontological nursing;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to make decisions based on critical thinking and analysis;
  • Appreciation for and ability to provide care from a resident-centred perspective;
  • Completion of Wound Care Level 1 training an asset;
  • Mental and physical capabilities to meet the job demands;
  • Ability to function within an interdisciplinary team environment that supports quality resident care.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
