Job Description:

Design Manager - Buildings

Abu Dhabi, UAE

We are seeking a seasoned Design Manager with extensive experience in building projects to lead and oversee the design process across multiple ongoing construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of UAE building codes and standards. Arabic language proficiency is preferred but not essential.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead and manage the design development of building projects from concept to completion.

• Review and approve architectural, structural, and MEP designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and international standards.

• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure design alignment and integration across disciplines.

• Oversee design quality and ensure timely delivery of design packages and documentation.

• Conduct design audits and provide technical guidance to resolve design-related issues during construction.

• Liaise with local authorities to facilitate design approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Monitor design progress and report to senior management on key milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.

• Support tendering and procurement processes by reviewing design-related documentation and specifications.

• Mentor and guide junior design engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design workflows.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.

• Minimum 15 years of experience in building design and construction, with at least 5 years in the UAE.

• Strong knowledge of UAE building codes, authority requirements, and construction practices.

• Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary design teams and complex building projects.

• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools, and project management platforms.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• UAE Society of Engineers membership

• PMP or equivalent project management certification

• Arabic language proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
