Job summary
A leading electrical engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to oversee testing and commissioning of high-voltage substations in the UAE. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5–8 years of hands-on experience with substations. The candidate will plan and execute testing procedures while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Strong documentation and problem-solving skills are essential. Willingness to travel is required.

- Hands-on experience with 132kV, 220kV, and 400kV substations.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and document testing and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during testing.
- Liaise with project stakeholders and provide technical support.
Skills
Education
Electrical Engineer – Testing and Commissioning. Responsible for planning, executing, and documenting the testing and commissioning of all electrical systems and components in substation projects (including 132kV, 220kV, and 400kV systems). Ensure equipment and systems operate as intended and in accordance with industry standards, client requirements, and safety regulations.
- Perform testing and commissioning activities for substation electrical equipment including :
- Power transformers
- Circuit breakers
- Current and voltage transformers
- Protection relays (distance, differential, overcurrent, etc.)
- GIS / AIS switchgear
- Busbars and isolators
- Control and protection panels
- Prepare and review test procedures, method statements, and commissioning plans in coordination with project teams and clients
- Conduct pre-commissioning and functional testing of protection schemes and control systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing and commissioning
- Calibrate and configure protection relays and SCADA / RTU systems
- Maintain accurate and detailed test records and reports
- Ensure that all testing equipment is calibrated and in good condition
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations during site works
- Liaise with project stakeholders including EPC contractors, consultants, utility representatives, and OEMs
- Provide technical support during energization and post-commissioning phases
- Supervise and guide junior engineers and technicians as required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in testing and commissioning of high-voltage substations
- Hands-on experience with 132kV / 220kV / 400kV substations is essential
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and protection logic diagrams
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required
