Job summary
A leading healthcare provider in Gauteng, South Africa seeks a CSSD Technician. The role involves providing sterile instrument sets and ensuring patient safety in the operating theatre. Ideal candidates will have Grade 12 education, and while no experience is necessary, two years as a CSSD Technician is preferred. Knowledge of infection control and stock management processes is critical for success. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 is essential for the position.
- A CSSD CPD course is desirable.
- No prior experience is necessary; 2 years experience as CSSD Technician is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide sterile and functional equipment to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain equipment to minimize clinical and financial risks.
- Utilize pharmaceutical stock effectively for operational needs.
- Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control standards.
- Follow standardized workflow to minimize risks.
Skills
Education
To provide adequate, functional and sterilized instrument sets and packs to the operating theatre and other nursing units in the hospital.
Ensure patient safety by providing adequate, sterile and functional equipment on time.
Ensure optimal care and maintenance of capital equipment to minimize clinical and financial risks.
Ensure cost-effective use of pharmaceutical stock to meet the daily requirements of the operating theatre and other nursing units.
Ensure Infection Prevention and Control standards are met according to policies and procedures.
Adhere to standardised workflow processes in order to minimise risks.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Grade 12
DESIRED EDUCATION: CSSD CPD course
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience as CSSD Technician
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Stock control processes
- Knowledge of personal and environmental hygiene
- Knowledge of IPC protocols and principles
- Knowledge of the CSSD basic functions
