Job Title : Sales Representative – External Sales

  • Location : Durban
  • Reports to : Regional Sales Manager
  • Position Summary

An exciting opportunity is available for a Sales Representative (External Sales) to join a well-established company in the industrial sector. The successful candidate will focus on the promotion and sale of electric motors, gearboxes, and variable speed drives (VSDs) . This role requires a self-motivated individual capable of developing new business and maintaining strong customer relationships within an assigned territory.

  • Key Responsibilities Sales & Market Development

Promote and sell industrial motors and related products within a designated region.

Identify and secure new business opportunities.

Conduct client visits and virtual consultations.

Develop quotations and proposals tailored to customer requirements.

Research and analyse market segments for potential growth.

Customer Relationship Management

Build and maintain professional relationships with new and existing clients.

Follow up on all customer enquiries and quotations.

Resolve customer issues and ensure satisfaction.

Enter and manage sales orders in the company system.

Liaise regularly with internal departments (technical, logistics, finance).

Reporting & Coordination

Submit detailed weekly and monthly sales reports.

Monitor bookings and invoicing accuracy.

Communicate competitive trends and customer feedback.

Maintain an updated quotation and order schedule.

Support & Administration

Assist customers with product applications and specifications.

Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and customer events.

Reduce slow-moving stock through focused customer engagement.

Support tender documentation and project submissions.

Matric (Grade 12) – Technical / Mechanical qualification advantageous.

Minimum 3 year experience in a technical sales or external sales environment.

Knowledge of electric motors, gearboxes, or VSDs is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Client-focused with strong negotiation and problem-solving ability.

Valid driver’s license required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general IT systems.
