Good health and quality of life is what motivates us to provide healthcare solutions and support to those who need it most. Anova's Jab Smart project was set up in late 2019 to respond to HIV among people who use drugs (PWUD) in Johannesburg Metro.

PWUD are at particular risk of HIV and suffer high levels of stigma and prejudice, often being denied access to essential health services. Jab Smart is a peer-led project that provides a range of harm reduction services to PWUD.

The project is implemented together with the COJ Health District and is supported by Global Fund through its partner NACOSA. We are looking for an Outreach Professional Nurse to provide high-quality HTS and outreach services in communities.

1. Transport and Logistics: Ensure safe and secure transit to and from outreach sites and offices.
2. Responsible for managing the mobile clinic or work vehicle.
3. Maintain fuel, mileage, and maintenance records as instructed by Project Manager, Site Coordinator / Administrator.
4. Ensure all field equipment is loaded and unloaded each shift (chairs, tents, generators, etc.).
5. Report all damages that occurred.
6. Follow all the rules/regulations of the road relating to the National Road Traffic Act of South Africa and as per Anova vehicle SOP and safety requirements.
7. Submit weekly vehicle inspection checklist to the project administrator and provide a written report in case of any incident or accident to the vehicle.

1. Provide integrated, holistic client-centered HTS with support.
2. Conduct HTS as per the National HIV Counselling and Testing policy/guidelines.
3. Ensure all HIV positive diagnosed clients are navigated to the nearest facilities.
4. Ensure newly diagnosed positive clients are initiated on ART.
5. Ensure compliance with HTS, waste management, and infection control guidelines and policies.
6. Encourage PWUDs to seek health care, including HCT and STI screenings.
7. Ensure that there are adequate HTS supplies for outreach.
8. Support the professional nurse with supply management of the mobile clinic contents.

1. All client data completed correctly and submitted daily.
2. Record keeping into DoH HTS register.
3. High-quality HTS data reported daily.
4. Monitor HTS data and ensure targets are met.
5. Maintain professional conduct at work as per applicable policies.
6. Develop strong relationships with health facilities in implementing district to ensure linkage to care for referred PWID.
7. Submit timesheets timely.

1. A degree or diploma qualification as a Professional Nurse.
2. Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
3. NIMART (Nurse Initiated Management of ART) qualification (essential).
4. Must have a dispensing license.
5. Valid Driver's License with PDP.
6. At least 3 years' driving experience.
7. At least 2 years' experience in an HIV/Aids counselling and testing (HCT) setting.
8. At least 2 years' experience as a registered nurse with good knowledge of the PWID community and relevant issues.
9. Familiar with latest HIV Management, TB, and PMTCT guidelines.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Good report writing skills.
12. Strong organizational skills, including time management and multi-tasking skills.
13. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
14. Attention to detail.
15. Strong team orientation and organizing skills.
