Job description
Web3 Technical Team Lead (CT or JHB based)

We are looking for a Web3 Technical Team Lead to coordinate a cross-functional engineering team and drive the delivery of complex Web3 products. This role is focused on technical leadership, architectural clarity, and ensuring smooth execution across frontend, backend, indexing, and smart contract workflows. Hands‑on smart contract development is not required, but strong technical understanding of Web3 integrations is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate frontend, backend, QA, indexing, and smart contract engineers to ensure technical alignment and delivery consistency.

  • Own and define the integration architecture across smart contracts, The Graph, backend services, and web applications.

  • Break down product requirements into clear, actionable engineering tasks and support sprint planning.

  • Review frontend, backend, and indexing code for correctness, security considerations, and compatibility with smart contract interfaces.

  • Oversee QA for full‑stack Web3 systems, supporting test planning, integration testing, and release readiness.

  • Collaborate closely with PM, design, and engineering leads to deliver cohesive MVPs and feature releases.

Must‑Have Qualifications
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, including recent hands‑on delivery in Web3, DeFi, or blockchain‑based systems.

  • Proven experience integrating smart contracts into frontend or backend systems (e.g., ethers.js, web3.js, custom API layers).

  • Strong knowledge of The Graph, including subgraph schema design, mappings, and GraphQL queries.

  • Experience working in cross‑functional teams with product, design, and QA.

  • Prior experience in technical leadership, mentorship, or team‑lead roles.

  • Familiarity with modern Web3‑adjacent tech stacks: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js.
