Job description

Our client in the Logistics Industry is seeking a Senior Consultant : Operational Excellence to join their team in KZN.

Purpose of the role : The Senior Consultant : OE is responsible for enabling and facilitating the adoption of the operational excellence culture within the KZN Operations through change management, training and coaching of the business units and / or contracts on continuous improvement tools.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a Lean deployment plan which will provide the required return on investment through waste elimination, costs reduction and improved operational efficiencies
  • Manage the implementation of Operational Excellence program in all KZN operations
  • Ensure alignment between Operational Excellence initiatives with the BU / accounts strategies
  • Develop business units’ internal problem solving capacity through training and coaching of problem solving methodologies, Kaizens and Kaizens events
  • Ensure that Lean foundational practices and entrenched in all areas of responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the development of Lean Practitioners within own area of responsibility
  • Act as a Change Agent, facilitate the adoption of the operational excellence culture, identify and remove barriers to success.
  • Assess the progress on the OE program and provide feedback to the leadership of the area of responsibility.
  • Assist colleagues in the area of responsibility with measuring, tracking and reporting of the financial benefits from improvement projects.
  • Investigate and identify opportunities for improvement
  • As an OE Champion, expand the use of operational excellence methodologies and structured problem solving approach in the business
Requirements

The minimum levels of work, experience and qualifications required for this role are :

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management
  • 2 years experience in operations preferably in a Supply Chain environment
  • 3 years experience in implementing OE programs
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Change management skills
  • Project management skills
  • Basic business acumen
