Job description

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse – NICU, based at Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga, reporting to the Unit Manager, Corrie du Plessis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality patient care in the NICU, working collaboratively with team members in accordance with clinical protocols and hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs
Effective cost management for staff and stock by:
  • Evaluating employee labour hours and managing debit and credit hours
  • Minimising unnecessary stock wastage and facilitating equipment maintenance
Providing quality patient care by:
  • Identifying and ensuring staff undergo department-specific micro orientation
  • Conducting daily care rounds and investigating complaints
  • Providing accurate, appropriate, and sufficient information to patients and families during hospitalization
  • Assisting doctors with daily cases and procedures
Effective risk management (SHEQ & infection control) by:
  • Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimize risks
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards to ensure infection control and safety compliance
  • Adhering to ISO requirements for infection control
Stakeholder relationship management:
  • Understanding doctor and stakeholder needs and preferences and integrating them into the work environment
Requirements
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Experience and qualification in NICU nursing are essential
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare industry is advantageous
