Job summary

The Role

The role is responsible for security services to protect company assets, employees, contractors, visitors and facilities in operations, as well as ensuring safety of security personnel.

Responsibilities Will Include But Not Limited To
  • Effective security personnel oversee and ensure that the deployment of security staff is in accordance with requirements
  • Ensure that security personnel carry out their duties in accordance with established standards and procedures
  • Ensure that security incidents are reported immediately and that investigations are conducted accordingly
  • Ensure that you maintain ethical standards and the confidentiality of information
  • Ensure that all security areas are functioning properly, including the security control room, armed response unit, drones, access/ egress control services, weighbridge operations, security systems and the maintenance of security infrastructures
  • Ensure positive communication within the security department and maintain professionalism. Ensure that all relevant information is shared with the security staff, including daily safety bulletins, monthly talk topics, inspection feedback, DMRE visit feedback and task risk assessment controls
  • Conduct security parades, inspect guardhouses and security equipment, and report any deviations
Requirements
  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF level 4)
  • National Advanced Certificate/Equivalent (2 years)
  • Registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) - Minimum Grade B
  • Valid Firearm competency certificate
  • Minimum 3 years of uninterrupted service within Protection Services/Security or similar role
  • In-depth experience as a Security Officer
  • Knowledge in CCTV and alarms
  • Knowledge of Security systems and processes
  • Basic knowledge of relevant legislation including Criminal Procedures Act, Statute Law, Security Officers Act, Law of Evidence, Mine Health and Safety Act & Labour Law
  • Be prepared to undergo Behavioral Assessment and Firearm Competency Assessment
  • Report writing skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license
  • In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous
  • Studying towards a Security related National Diploma (NQF Level 7)
  • In-depth knowledge of investigations
  • Team supervisory experience in the Mining industrySafety course S1
  • Knowledge and understanding of security best practices and policies
