Overview
The On-site Sales Executive will be responsible for driving sales of SolarAfrica’s renewable energy solutions, with a focus on large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, engaging directly with prospective clients, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships. It focuses on physical infrastructure projects from site-based PV systems to advanced storage solutions requiring both technical understanding and commercial expertise.
Position of the job in the organisation: The successful candidate will report directly to the On-site Sales Manager.
Responsibilities
- Drive profitable sales of Solar PV and BESS projects through targeted strategies and direct client engagement.
- Identify, qualify, and convert opportunities into signed deals with commercial and industrial clients and qualified Partners.
- Sell renewable energy solutions through PPA agreements, Lease agreements as well as once-off Capital Purchase models, tailoring solutions to client needs.
- Prepare tailored proposals, deliver in-person presentations, and lead contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with engineering, project, finance, and legal teams to ensure solutions are technically and commercially sound aligning to the Client's objectives.
- Build and maintain strong client and Partner relationships where applicable, conducting site visits and supporting long-term partnerships which include marketing activities, strategic alignment discussions and delivering best-in-class customer experience.
- Assist with day-to-day sales administration including calls, emails, diaries, and meeting coordination.
- Prepare proposals using internal tools, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and Excel; ensure CRM (HubSpot) records are accurate.
- Pre-qualify inbound leads, gather project data and bills, and liaise between clients and internal teams.
- Support credit checks, documentation follow-up, and agreement coordination for project approvals.
- Provide regular sales reports and ensure smooth communication between departments and partners.

Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in B2B sales, ideally within the renewables/energy infrastructure space.
- Proven track record selling complex infrastructure solutions (preferably Solar PV, BESS, or related energy systems).
- Valid driver\'s license and willing to travel.

- Strong understanding of South African energy regulatory frameworks (NERSA, Eskom grid connection rules, municipal by-laws).
- Experience working with large commercial and industrial clients in sectors such as mining, manufacturing, logistics, or property sectors.
- Ability to translate technical Solar PV and BESS solutions into commercial value propositions for non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort with long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder negotiations.
- Proficiency in using CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) for pipeline management and reporting.
What Does Success Look Like?
By 3 Months
- Fully understand SolarAfrica’s Solar PV and BESS solutions, pricing structures, and sales models (PPA and once-off purchase).
- Establish a qualified sales pipeline with pre-assessed opportunities and client engagements underway in line with organisational targets.
- Build strong working relationships with internal technical, finance, and legal teams.
- Handle initial client meetings and effectively present basic proposals with the ability to articulate commercial value to all stakeholders.
By 6 Months
- Consistently progress deals through the full sales cycle from lead to signed agreement.
- Close initial projects under both PPA and once-off purchase models.
- Provide valuable client and market feedback to support ongoing product and commercial improvements.
- Demonstrate disciplined CRM management with an accurate, active sales pipeline.
- Act as a reliable liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and smooth deal execution.
By 12 Months
- Consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets for Solar PV and BESS projects.
- Maintain a diversified portfolio of clients across multiple industries with both PPA and once-off purchase agreements.
- Secure repeat business and referrals through strong client relationships and delivery confidence.
- Be recognised internally as a trusted contributor to revenue growth and externally as a credible partner in renewable project delivery.
- Represent SolarAfrica confidently at industry events, positioning the company as a leader in Solar PV and BESS solutions.
