JOB PROFILE / LOCATION

A Permanent Specialist Management Role in the Mining Industry (Manganese Mining Sector) based in Northern Cape (Postmasburg or Kathu)

REMUNERATION DATA

R2.3M (Total Annual Cost to Company including Benefits: Standard Corporate Benefits)

JOB SUMMARY

My client is in search of a suitably qualified and experienced individual to assume the above-mentioned role within their manganese mining operations in the Northern Cape. The successful incumbent will play a pivotal role in leading and optimising all aspects of mining operations. This would require a seasoned professional with a strong background in mining processes, safety management and leadership. They will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with regulations and foster a culture of safety and innovation within the mining team. Specific role outputs will include:

Responsible for all production activities
  • Manage continuous improvement through operational excellence
  • Document and review the overall production strategy and ensure that it is aligned with the business plan
  • Implement and manage operational readiness plan
  • Initiate and implement contract performance adjustments as and when necessary
  • Ensure that all equipment adhere to prescribed engineering standards at all times
  • Interface with local, regional and central forums and government agencies as required
  • Ensure adherence to social and labour plans
  • Establish a culture of performance management and ensure the utilisation of it in a fair and consistent manner
  • Liaise with all the different stakeholders to ensure that production targets are met
  • Ensuring KPIs are achieved with a particular focus on availability, throughput and recovery
General
  • Manage and oversee Risk Management controls
  • Organises / coordinates people and resources to achieve desired work output / targets / outcomes
  • Develops and maintains communication structures and communicates work requirements and relevant information to direct reports ensuring that they have access to the required tools, equipment, material etc. to perform their tasks to the required standard
  • Adhere to set out world class mining standards in order to ensure the company remains competitive
  • Participate in quality initiatives and corrective actions to address non-conformance to standards
People Management
  • Provide leadership to the team (4 10 direct reports), defining objectives to be achieved by the department
  • Deploy people management processes workforce planning, recruitment & selection, learning and development, performance management, career and succession planning and employee relations etc. effectively, in line with organisational policies, procedures and prevailing improvement initiatives
  • Manage the working environment and ensure it contributes to improving staff morale and increasing productivity
  • Design and review operations organisational structure to support operational plans and strategy, in collaboration with HR
Financial Management
  • Compile and manage budgets and monitor expenses ensuring expenditure is within the budget
  • Continuously strive to save costs
Health & Safety / Governance and Compliance
  • Adhere to and meet all relevant safety targets and measurements within the area of responsibility
  • Adheres and enforces all health and safety regulations and report all safety hazards, accidents and incidents to relevant parties
  • Actively address all customer and supplier concerns
  • Adhere to, and lead in the compliance of all Environmental, Health and Safety and all other applicable regulatory statutes, and all other safety and quality systems.
Quality
  • Ensure alignment of all work processes to the required quality standards
  • Proactively identify continual improvement strategies
  • Action agreed quality initiatives ensuring that they are aligned to tasks / processes / systems
  • Implement corrective actions identified within specified time

    • Advanced Diploma (NQF level 7) or 4 year DegreeNQF level 7)
    • Mine Managers Certificate essential
    • A minimum of 10 years relevant experience
