Job Purpose

Manages the implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting sequence of outcomes associated with vehicle mechanical, electrical and general maintenance programs.

Key Responsibility Areas
  • Identifies with the Technical Operations approach with respect to service delivery and defines, implements and monitors the short-term plans / objectives for the Fleet Maintenance functionality.
  • Manages the key performance indicators and outcomes of personnel within the section.
  • Manages and controls the operating expenditure against the approved budget allocations.
  • Manages a range of contracts that gives coverage to warrantless and other terms and conditions relating to the vehicle mechanical and electrical in addition to the general parts or structures of the City’s vehicles and contributes to the formulation of specific contracts and tender documents and controls contractual obligations.
  • Implements procedures, systems and controls to regulate specific work sequence and requirements associated with the functionality.
  • Directs and controls key deliverables associated with the Automotive Mechanical and Electrical workshop.
  • Disseminates functional information on current activities, proposed courses of action / developments, problems and constraints.
  • Manages the procedural administrative and operating requirements / deadlines associated with the functionality.

Essential Requirements
  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent in Transportation or Fleet Management or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
