Lead Engineer - Jhb R 800k - R 1.5K Negotiable Our client, a leader in industries such as healthcare, mining, power and energy, and water and wastewater, is transforming sectors through the implementation of safe, innovative, and sustainable engineering solutions. With CIDB registrations at grades 9ME, 9EP, 9CE, and 9GB, we specialize in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and automation engineering systems, both locally and internationally.

Requirements

• A BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in overhead power line design and construction management.
• Proficiency in designing overhead power lines using PLS-CADD.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is a plus.
• A strong understanding of NEC-3 is advantageous.
• Experience in substation design and construction supervision is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities

• Designing high voltage transmission lines (132kV - 765kV).
• Managing projects for high voltage transmission lines, including emergency, routine maintenance, and capital works.
• Assembling and leading multidisciplinary design teams to execute projects effectively.
• Developing equipment and plant lists to ensure safe and successful project execution.
• Conducting engineering calculations and modelling for overhead power line projects.
• Supporting the SHERQ team in preparing compliance documents prior to the start of construction and maintenance.
• Developing or approving safe working procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assisting with the development of technical proposals for transmission line RFQs and RFPs.
• Creating Quality Control Plans and Method Statements for high-voltage transmission line projects.
• Regularly communicating project statuses to the Head of Projects Delivery and external stakeholders (clients).
• Managing electrical interfaces with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, etc.) during design and execution.
• Participating in subcontractor selection and site management to ensure safety and high-quality implementation.
• Developing project cost estimations and compiling Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
• Leading projects from inception to close-out, overseeing design, procurement, construction supervision, and project handover.
• Mentoring junior engineers.
• Handle COIDA administration and U-Filing submissions.
