Job description

Our client is a Johannesburg-based firm offering investment management, financial planning, and estate services.

Founded in it focuses on independent, client-driven advice through a network of equity-owning advisors.

Our client is seeking a results-driven Investment Distribution Manager to promote their discretionary fund management (DFM) solutions for financial advisors—both internally and externally.

In this role you will provide expert investment guidance, support portfolio construction, and drive business growth through strong client relationships and market insights. In addition to engaging with financial advisors, you will manage and maintain relationships with underlying Discretionary Fund Managers (DFM) providers, ensuring seamless collaboration, fund performance oversight, and alignment with the client's investment strategies.

A key focus of this role is achieving their growth targets, including increasing assets under management (AUM), expanding the adoption of their solutions, and driving revenue growth. You will ensure compliance with financial regulations while delivering tailored investment solutions that enhance their client outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management Support: Provide expert guidance on their investment solutions, model portfolios, and segregated equity strategies. Work with financial advisors and paraplanners to ensure investment solutions fit the client's risk profile and needs. Monitor and analyse portfolio performance and recommend adjustments when required. Travel occasionally to collaborate directly with financial advisors.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with financial advisors, independent financial advisors (IFAs), and institutional investors. Conduct client meetings and presentations to showcase the client's capabilities. Provide ongoing portfolio performance reviews and market insights. Collaborate effectively with DFM providers, ensuring due diligence and alignment with the client's investment strategies.
  • Drive Business Growth: Support the MD in developing and executing the client's distribution strategy. Grow assets from existing clients and identify new business opportunities. Expand the client's market presence by spotting opportunities and challenges in the distribution landscape.
  • Investment Analysis & Market Research: Analyse market trends, economic factors, and asset classes to support investment decisions. Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting investments and DFM services.
  • Business Development & Sales Support: Support the MD in creating and maintaining technical marketing materials for both advisors and clients. Keep up with industry and competitor trends. Conduct training and workshops for advisors on DFM solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, investments, or a related field.
  • CFA qualification or progress toward the designation is highly advantageous.
  • 3–7 years of experience in investments, asset management, wealth management, or financial advisory.
  • Experience with DFM, multi‑manager investments, or portfolio construction is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proven relationship management and client‑focused approach.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets, asset allocation, and portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with fund research tools, performance analytics, and risk management software.
  • Ability to become an expert on their investment proposition and work closely with the DFM provider and internal operational teams (such as client services).
Benefits

Market related base salary and annual bonus that is formula driven based on net flows into their investment solutions.
