Our client is seeking a Compliance Legal Advisor for their team in Bloemfontein.

Location : Bloemfontein

Requirements :

  • LLB Degree
  • Admission as an attorney is required
  • Advantageous – Post-Grad diploma or LLM in a related field
  • 3+ yrs post-qualification experience
  • Experience in commercial law, contract law, labour law, compliance, and regulatory matters
  • Familiarity with South African legal frameworks and relevant legislation (e.g., Companies Act, Labour Relations Act, POPIA, PAIA, B-BBEE Act, etc.)
  • Computer literacy

About Legal Functions –

  • Ensuring that the Group of Companies' operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements while mitigating risks and promoting ethical business practices, both in South Africa and internationally.
  • Vetting, drafting, and negotiating legal agreements and corporate law matters, providing expert advice, and ensuring thorough implementation of terms and conditions.
  • Preparing legal opinions, memoranda, briefing documents, and managing external legal counsel instructions.
  • Drafting and reviewing agreements, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and advising management on regulatory changes.
  • Preventing legal and regulatory violations through internal controls and compliance risk assessments.
  • Developing compliance training programs and collaborating across departments to ensure seamless compliance operations.
  • Conducting legal research and providing informed advice on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and implementing systems to manage legal documentation and deadlines.
  • Participating in litigation meetings and conducting risk assessments and debt recovery procedures.

Furthermore –

  • Reporting on compliance and disputes, drafting reports, and planning documentation.
  • Supporting legal representation and liaising with senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Managing external recovery processes and ensuring adherence to policies and legal standards.
  • Maintaining accurate records of legal meetings and actions.
