A maritime staffing company is seeking an experienced supervisor for a carpentry team on a cruise ship. The ideal candidate will supervise carpenters in the construction and repair of marine structures, manage daily task scheduling, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Applicants should have at least 5 years of carpentry experience, including supervisory roles, and possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of marine carpentry techniques and ability to work under pressure are essential.
- Supervise and lead a team of carpenters in the construction, installation, and repair of marine structures and components
- Plan and schedule daily tasks for the carpentry team, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget
- Train and mentor new carpenters, providing guidance and support to ensure their success onboard the cruise ship
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of materials and equipment, ordering supplies as needed
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure work meets company and industry standards
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies at all times
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during projects
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and report progress to management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in carpentry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of marine carpentry techniques and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Proven track record of successfully managing and completing projects on time and within budget
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
