Job summary

A leading mining and engineering company in South Africa seeks a Draughtsman to assist in providing updated mining plans in accordance with DME and Mine standards. The successful candidate must have a Grade 12 qualification with maths and science, along with a Survey Draughting Certificate and a minimum of one year of experience. Proficiency in MS Office and an understanding of relevant legislation are essential. This role involves developing CAD drawings and maintaining DME compliance.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12/NQF Level 4 with maths and science is essential.
  • Survey Draughting Certificate is desirable.
  • 1-year Draughting experience is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update plans per DME requirements.
  • Develop and produce computer-aided drawings.
  • Set up and prepare 3D model space.

Purpose of the Job

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • Grade 12/NQF Level 4 with maths and science is essential
  • Survey Draughting Certificate is desirable
  • 1-year Draughting experience is essential
  • Computer literacy (MS Office) is essential.
  • Valid Medical certificate is essential or must be medically fit in order to obtain such certificate
Competencies
  • Demonstrate an understanding of legislation and compliance in the Mining and Minerals Sector
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations and definitions
  • Demonstrate an awareness of customer service
  • Demonstrate an understanding of measuring instruments and produce free-hand drawings
  • Demonstrate understanding of regulations, codes and drawing office practices
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant terminology used in mining
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of different activities related to mining of minerals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of local stratigraphy
Key Performance Areas
  • Maintain and update plans as per Department of Mineral and Energy Affairs (DME) requirements
  • Impala Survey and Ore Reserve plans
  • Accident plans as required
  • Sundry plans as required
  • Print plans and produce presentation plans as required
  • Develop and produce computer aided drawings
  • Set up and prepare 3D model space and produce 3D models
  • Transfer information into the graphic environment
  • Maintain overall Computer Aided Design standards
