The Singapore Teaching and Academic Research Talent (START) Scheme, co-funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and SIT, encourages and supports exceptional Singaporeans interested in pursuing an academic career at SIT.

The Early Career Awards (ECA) are designed to support Singaporeans who have recently completed their postdoctoral training and prepare them for an academic career at SIT. This award aims to enhance teaching capabilities and help build a strong research portfolio.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

• Singapore Citizen
• Recently completed postdoctoral training
• Excellent academic record with high proficiency and motivation in a research area aligned with SIT’s supported areas
• Strong passion for teaching, research, and an academic career

Awardees may receive research grants to build a competitive research portfolio. Upon completion, awardees will be considered for Assistant Professorship. They will also be assigned a faculty mentor throughout the scheme.

Application Process

• Applications are open year-round. Those received before 15 January 2026 will be considered for the 2026 intake.
• Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by respective clusters throughout the year.
• Final interviews will be held from March to April 2026.
• Final awards for the 2026 intake will be announced by July 2026.

• Diagnostic Radiography: Involves controlled use of radiation and radioactive substances to produce diagnostic images, aiding diagnosis and treatment.
• Dietetics: Focuses on managing medical conditions and promoting health through nutrition and food management.
• Nursing: Provides health services to individuals, families, and communities.
• Speech and Language Therapy: Involves assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
• Occupational Therapy: Involves assessment and intervention to help individuals engage in daily activities despite physical or mental challenges.
• Physiotherapy: Focuses on assessment, treatment, and prevention of physical dysfunctions through various therapeutic methods.
