Job description

The Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) oversees the development of core research capabilities within A*STAR research units, drives cross-disciplinary research and translational medicine, and supports human capital development in the area of health and biomedical sciences to attract R&D investment, strengthen Singapore's biotech ecosystem, and advance healthcare.

We are looking for a highly driven individual to join us in building Singapore's R&D capabilities in biomedical data and AI. This role will focus on areas in biomedical data management, AI in Health and clinical partnerships.

You will have the exciting opportunity to push the frontiers of scientific development, provide thought leadership in the translation of science, and create a Singapore ecosystem conducive for new investments and growth. You will work closely with A*STAR research units, as well as other public sector agencies, universities, hospitals and industry players, to develop research strategies and cutting-edge research programmes, and facilitate their translation into economic, health or societal outcomes for Singapore.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Development: Work closely with the research community and key opinion leaders within and outside A*STAR to build relevant R&D capabilities and infrastructure, catalysing data-driven innovation for biomedical research and healthcare. This includes the development and assessment of research programmes leveraging machine learning, data science and analytics and computational modelling for various biomedical domains.
  • Ecosystem Engagement: Build partnerships across the ecosystem, including with public sector agencies, universities, hospitals, and industry players, to accelerate translational research. This includes supporting a key partnership with one of Singapore's healthcare clusters.
  • Strategic Foresight: Monitor global scientific, industry and regulatory trends to guide the development of R&D strategies and capabilities, especially in the sharing and management of biomedical data, and the use of AI for health and biomedical applications.
  • Administrative Management: Manage the administration and drive improvements related to the performance of A*STAR research units and/or funded research initiatives.
Job Requirements
  • Degree or postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science and Health Data Science. Degrees in Biomedical Sciences may be considered if coupled with relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in either business, research or innovation roles related to the above disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and deliver strategic initiatives within large or multidisciplinary organisations.
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies and their application to biomedical research, clinical decision-making, and health service optimisation.
  • Able to work independently and a strong team player
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to engage internal and external stakeholders and sell new ideas
