Job purpose
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Manager, Communications (Public Relations) to support the Deputy Director (Communications) in driving and executing Arts House Limited’s (AHL) Public Relations strategy, with a strong emphasis on media engagement, brand visibility, and compelling storytelling. This role is central to enhancing the organisation’s reputation, managing press narratives, and shaping public perception across corporate, programme-related, and internal communications.
You will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, juggling multiple projects and deadlines with confidence and precision. The ideal candidate brings strategic thinking, exceptional execution, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities
Media Relations and Strategic Public Relations
Manage and execute local and international media engagement strategies to strengthen AHL’s reputation and positioning. Cultivate strong, ongoing relationships with key media outlets, journalists, editors, KOLs, and cultural influencers.
Act as a key liaison between Public Relations, marketing, and programming teams to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment across all external communications.
Spearhead and manage high-profile and major media events including media engagement sessions, media launches, journalist visit programmes and media interviews, ensuring a high level of strategic positioning and execution.
Prepare senior leadership for public appearances and media engagements with tailored briefing materials and messaging.
Proactively pitch and secure coverage across local, international, mainstream, niche and digital media platforms.
Corporate Communications
Initiate and align internal stakeholders with AHL’s communications goals through consistent, engaging internal messaging. The Manager, Communications is responsible for managing the internal communications calendar for the year, liaising with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring all messages are aligned with AHL’s brand image through careful copywriting.
Develop and manage internal communication tools such as newsletters, staff updates, and intranet content to foster awareness, morale, and a shared sense of purpose. In addition to the internal AHL newsletter, the Manager, Communications is also responsible for the quarterly AHL newsletter for external stakeholders and oversees corporate postings on LinkedIn.
Strategic Planning and Research
Support Deputy Director, Communications in research efforts to identify emerging media trends, industry developments, and opportunities for brand amplification and to position AHL as a cultural and artistic thought leader
Support Deputy Director, Communications in refining Public Relations strategies that align with AHL’s overarching communications and brand positioning objectives.
Drive insights-led Public Relations planning, leveraging data analytics and audience insights to inform media engagement strategies.
Content Creation & Editing
Develop high-quality media materials including press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and pitch narratives that amplify AHL’s corporate positioning and vision.
Create high-impact storytelling strategies that enhance the visibility of AHL’s corporate initiatives, tailoring narratives for different media verticals and audience segments.
Own and manage the Public Relations editorial calendar, ensuring seamless integration with AHL’s marketing and corporate communications plans.
Monitoring, Analysis and Crisis Management
Conduct analysis and reporting of media coverage, evaluating Public Relations effectiveness through media metrics, sentiment analysis, and impact assessment.
Work with DD/Comms to establish benchmarks and KPIs for Public Relations performance, providing recommendations to enhance media visibility and brand reputation.
Assist DD/Comms in crisis communication planning and response, providing insights on media-sensitive issues and managing reputational risks proactively.
Any other duties
Develop and refine Public Relations SOPs, ensuring smooth execution of VIP/media engagements and high-profile press events.
Mentor and guide junior Public Relations staff, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and professional growth within the Public Relations team.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Degree/ Diploma in Mass Communications or any relevant field
Experience
At least 8 years of experience in Public Relations and Communications or relevant field.
Skills
Strong attention to detail, with good organisation and planning skills, able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while consistently delivering high quality work with tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effectively bilingual is an advantage
Demonstrated leadership abilities, with the capacity to guide teams, coordinate stakeholders, and support decision-making processes confidently and collaboratively
Good teamwork, communications and people management skills are essential
Strong willingness to learn
Driven, proactive and takes initiatives
An understanding of the latest trends in the arts and culture industry is an advantage, but not mandatory
