Reporting to Chief Commercial Officer, as the Head of Pre-Sales, you will play a strategic role in supporting the growth and success of RightShip’s well-established maritime safety solutions as well as new product launches which require deep understanding of customers workflows, key pain points in the current workflows, data and insights required to make safety and sustainability decisions. Leveraging your industry expertise and technical acumen, you will lead complex sales engagements, work closely with senior customer stakeholders, and act as a trusted advisor throughout the pre-sales cycle. You design custom solutions that meet the specific needs of a client. Working closely with the client representatives, account managers, and product managers to find the best solutions and drive revenues. This is a high-visibility role working with global shipping companies, fleet managers, large chartering customers like big mining houses, regulatory bodies, and port authorities, ensuring our solutions address the critical safety, compliance, and sustainability needs of the maritime sector.
Customer Needs Clarification
Lead the pre-sales process for complex, high-value opportunities across global markets. Consult with customer representatives at the top management level to identify the strategic outcomes they are seeking to achieve, coordinating the engagement of users, as well as functional and technical specialists within own and customer organizations, to gather and analyze very complex customer data and to develop and agree on a specification of customer requirements.
Design and Conceptualization
Architect tailored solution proposals that address client-specific needs, articulating clear business value. Translate customer needs and strategic direction into a digital product/service portfolio vision, balancing short-term design needs with vision into the future.
Product and Solution Development
Conduct detailed discovery sessions with C-suite executives and operational leaders to understand strategic business drivers for safety and sustainability. Act as the "voice of the customer" internally, influencing product development and go-to-market strategies.
Sell Customer Propositions
Lead a cross-functional internal team (e.g., product, business development team and legal) to configure a very complex, high-value tailored or bespoke product solution and associated contractual terms that meet the customer's strategic goals at global level. Present the solution to customer representatives and negotiate agreement with the customer and internal colleagues to ensure that customer needs are met at an acceptable level of commercial risk, or, alternately, review and authorize complex sales proposals to ensure that they are constructed within acceptable commercial and risk parameters.
Business Case Development
Lead the development of business cases and make evidence-based recommendations to senior decision-makers to support decision-making on product development opportunities.
Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation
Lead a team, develop and implement processes, and sign off on requests for bid solicitation request for proposal (RFP) and request for information (RFI) documents on the requester side. Manage and monitor the processes to notify potential bidders.
Product Demos
Deliver high-impact product demonstrations, workshops, and executive briefings. Demonstrate the most valuable features/attributes for the product/service, exemplifying how demonstrations should be performed and linked to the customer's most pressing challenges.
Thought Leadership
Represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events by showcasing expertise and thought leadership in the maritime domain, enhancing the company’s reputation and influence in the industry. Maintain a strong understanding of maritime industry regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL), sustainability initiatives (EEXI, CII), and emerging technologies (IoT, AI, data analytics).
Drive the overarching plan for the organization's mentoring programs, focusing on innovative techniques for knowledge sharing, skills improvement, feedback, and career advice. Mentor and support junior pre-sales and business development team members to build overall team capability.
