Job description
Technical Functional Lead – Microsoft Dynamics 365

Finexus has implemented the first phase of Microsoft Dynamics 365, and in the process of implementing the next phase of D365. We are seeking a Technical-Functional Lead (Hands-On) for Microsoft Dynamics 365. This role is responsible for working closely with Finance, Accounts, Operations, and the external D365 vendor to design, validate, and optimize system configurations and workflows. While the vendor executes the system setup, the Technical-Functional Lead will provide the business logic, configuration inputs, and validation to ensure the ERP reflects Finexus’ requirements and is implemented in Finexus’ best interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Requirements & System Design
    • Work with Finance, Accounts, and other departments to gather requirements and translate them into D365 functional specifications.
    • Define key configuration inputs for the vendor (e.g., chart of accounts, systems, dimensions and their values, approval workflows, reporting structures).
    • Ensure business rules, compliance requirements (e.g., SST, e-Invoicing), and reporting needs are incorporated into the system design.
  • Collaboration with Vendor
    • Partner with the external D365 vendor to ensure system setup aligns with Finexus’ requirements.
    • Review, challenge, and validate vendor proposals/configurations before implementation.
    • Act as the internal authority to confirm what should be configured, not leaving those decisions solely to the vendor.
  • Validation & Testing
    • Lead UAT (User Acceptance Testing) from Finexus’ side by designing test cases, validating data, and ensuring accuracy.
    • Identify issues, discrepancies, or gaps in vendor implementation and coordinate corrections.
    • Ensure system outputs (reports, dashboards, workflows) meet Finexus’ financial and operational needs.
  • Knowledge Transfer & Internal Capability
    • Provide hands‑on support in defining and validating critical configuration elements (e.g., dimensions, tax codes, reporting formats).
    • Train Finance and other users on how to leverage D365 effectively.
    • Build documentation, user guides, and internal know‑how for ongoing self‑sufficiency.
    • Stay updated on new D365 BC functionalities and advise management on potential enhancements.
    • Recommend process improvements based on ERP best practices.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years experience of technical and functional experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Strong knowledge of Finance/Accounting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to define dimensions, financial structures, and compliance rules in ERP systems.
  • Experience working as a bridge between Finance and ERP vendors/consultants.
  • Hands‑on ability to define, configure inputs, and validate system elements (not purely advisory).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian SST, e-Invoicing, and regulatory compliance highly desirable.
Personal Attributes
  • Detail-oriented with strong ownership of deliverables.
  • Practical and hands‑on, able to prove solutions rather than only advising.
  • Independent thinker who can challenge vendor assumptions constructively.
  • Collaborative across Finance, IT, and business departments.
