Brief Overview of Role

The Art Teacher is responsible to the Head of Creative Arts for planning and teaching Art and possibly some DT. The Art Teacher is expected to develop and deliver a creative and engaging programme based on the National Curriculum framework. When there are relevant curriculum links the Art/DT teacher is expected to work closely with class teachers to collaboratively plan and deliver an integrated unit.

Responsibilities

The Art/DT teacher must:

  • Be able to teach IGCSE and A Level.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to different learning situations and teaching styles.
  • Differentiate through various strategies.
  • Inform class teachers of students’ progress.
  • Inform parents and attend parent‑teacher conferences, as required.
  • Actively keep up to date with current arts education research and good practice.
  • Contribute to the extra‑curricula activities of the school and be involved in school development.
