Job summary

A leading marketing services company located in Petaling Jaya is seeking an experienced Audit Coordinator to manage individual audit entities with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will coordinate the audit process, ensuring compliance with IFRS while fostering relationships with stakeholders. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, professional qualification, and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in audit firms, with strong Excel and interpersonal skills. This role supports a hybrid working environment.

Purpose of the Role

This position is responsible for managing individual audit entities independently with minimum supervision and ensuring statutory audit coordination is smooth.

Working closely with Opco, External auditors, Focal PIC at Shared Services and as a team member in the Stats and Tax team. Coordinating the audit process includes managing the audit process for assigned entities.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinating audits with auditors, Opco, and internal department External Advisor resources for supporting documentation.
  • Coach the team for audit matters specific to each engagement.
  • Work and adhere to Company's Values, competencies, ICFR and TOM.
  • Escalate issues and resolve issues, identify process gaps during the audit course. Keep abreast of new accounting standards IFRS, MPERS and MFRS and understand implications.
  • Resolve audit issues with Opco working level independently. Self-check on work and identify ways to improve. Post audit, identify and work with business process owners to rectify business processes.
  • Identify ways to improve audit process, escalade and communicate issues and work with managers / stakeholders.
  • Adhere to IFRS, MPERS, MFRS statutory compliance for each entity.
  • Work with Group Internal Audit and Controls and Compliance personnel to ensure strong internal controls / governance process exist.
  • Keep abreast of technical pronouncements and engage in knowledge sharing with manager, Opco at the end of a project. Champion projects that affect stats processes.
  • Accountable for all audits under assigned portfolio in respect of service delivery, quality, efficiency, effectiveness and ethics.
  • Produce quality statutory accounts in accordance to IFRS, FRS, MFRS, MPERS.
  • Familiar with IFRS, audit requirements, company secretary matters and compliance program to lift stats work / transition from other countries to Msia.
  • Identify process deficiencies, reporting improvements, communication and coordination process improvements.
  • Keep abreast with latest IFRS, MPERS, and also update Opco for any technical pronouncements that will affect the statutory.
  • Coordinate individual audits and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Build relationships with Opco, Focal PIC at SSC, and team members to provide effective audit coordination.
  • Act as an escalation point of contact when appropriate.
  • Provide audit solutions to resolve audit issues.
Education & Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, and professional qualification (ACCA/CPA/MIA etc.).
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Big 4 audit firms or midsize firms.
  • Able to communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Member of MIA.
  • Practical knowledge of audit, preparation of statutory accounts, understanding of IFRS, ability to assess impairment, cashflows, deferred tax, basic consolidation, and basic understanding of tax matters.
  • Good at Excel, from VLOOKUP to XLOOKUP, and able to do data analytics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated through maintaining and developing External Advisor client relationships.
  • Providing advice and technical research and guidance to multiple stakeholders covering multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong technical skills to handle difficult people and manage auditors. Ability to articulate and resolve issues.
  • Minimum 4 years experience from Big 10 encouraged to apply.
