Job summary

A leading construction firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a qualified candidate to supervise and inspect ongoing and completed construction works. The ideal individual will ensure compliance with specifications and manage various subcontractors. Responsibilities include preparing reports, coordinating M&E systems, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Candidates must have a Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E), with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with CIDB regulations is desired.

Job description

Carry out inspections at all ongoing and completed works to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and statutory requirements, including Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works.

Assist in checking all construction and M&E drawings issued by consultants, specialist contractors, or subcontractors.

Supervise and monitor construction and M&E works in accordance with contracts and approved drawings, with particular emphasis on specifications, quality, safety, and project timeline.

Ensure all construction and M&E materials delivered to site conform to approved specifications and the project Inspection & Test Plan (ITP).

Monitor, witness, and verify testing, commissioning, and rectification works for all construction and M&E systems.

Ensure proper filing and storage of all site documents including drawings, plans, reports, test results, and correspondence for easy retrieval.

Prepare and verify site diary, progress reports, and test reports, and maintain accurate site records.

Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on site and M&E interfacing works.

Issue site memos for non-compliant, defective, delayed, or unsafe construction and M&E works.

Identify defective or non-conforming works (including M&E), recommend corrective actions, and monitor rectification progress.

Coordinate M&E works with interior fit-out, architectural, and structural works to ensure proper interfacing and avoid clashes on site.

Review and verify M&E shop drawings and as-built drawings prior to submission and handover.

Assist in coordination with relevant authorities (e.g. BOMBA, TNB, SAJ, Local Authority) for inspections, testing, and approvals related to M&E works.

Assist in M&E system commissioning, final inspection, and handover to client including operation & maintenance (O&M) documents.

Attend all site meetings and submit weekly and monthly progress reports to management.

Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Requirements
  • Candidate must possess at least Diploma or Bachelor's Degree, in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) or Equivalent.
  • Experience in interior design or interior fit-out projects will be an added advantage, particularly in coordinating M&E works with architectural finishes.
  • At least 2 years working experience in handling project site is required for this position.
  • Possess own transport.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team player with strong coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage multiple subcontractors and meet project deadlines.
  • Familiar with CIDB regulations and site safety protocols.
