Senior System Administrator (1-Year Contract)

About the role We are looking for an experienced Senior System Administrator to manage and maintain our on‑premise servers, databases, storage systems, and mission‑critical applications. You will play a key role in ensuring system stability, strong security posture, high availability, and smooth day‑to‑day operations for the organisation.

What you'll be doing

• Manage and maintain Linux/Windows servers, virtualization hosts (VMware/Hyper‑V), and storage systems.
• Administer and optimise MySQL & PostgreSQL databases, including backup, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee NAS storage, PACS imaging retention, and rsync‑based replication.
• Implement system hardening, patching, access controls, and vulnerability remediation.
• Support web application environments (Yii2, Laravel, PHP/PostgreSQL stack).
• Maintain and improve system monitoring using Zabbix, Grafana, logs, and utilisation scripts.
• Execute backup and disaster recovery (DR) procedures and conduct readiness tests.
• Troubleshoot network issues (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, routing, firewall policies).
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and configuration standards.
• Provide Level 3 escalation support with root‑cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, scaling, HA improvements, and technology adoption.
• Provide standby/on‑call support during maintenance windows or system outages.

What we're looking for

• Degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent.
• 5–7 years of hands‑on experience in System Administration.
• Proficient with Ubuntu, RHEL/CentOS, Windows Server, VMware/Hyper‑V.
• Solid knowledge in security hardening, patching, and access control.
• Skilled in troubleshooting TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, routing, and firewall‑related issues.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana, Elastic Stack).
• Experience in backup/DR planning, NAS management, and database optimisation.
• Strong documentation and SOP‑writing abilities.
