A construction company is seeking a Senior Site Engineer (C&S) to lead the Overall Operation Team in Labuan, Malaysia. The role involves overseeing civil and marine construction activities, ensuring compliance with JKR standards, and coordinating technical matters at the site. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, be registered as a Graduate Engineer with BEM, and have at least 15 years of site experience, including 5 years in Marine/Coastal Construction. We are seeking a high-calibre and Senior Site Engineer (C&S) to manage and supervise the Overall Operation Team at site including civil and structural and marine construction activities. You will be the Operation Team Leader at site overseeing and coordinating all operation and technical matters at site, including ensuring that all civil and structural works piling, jetty structures, coastal protection works are executed strictly in accordance to JKR standards, and under strict health and safety guidelines. Work closely with the Project Manager and Project Resident Engineer to ensure smooth progress of work at site in accordance to the approved Project Work Program. Work closely with the Resident Engineer to seek clarification on the construction drawings and specification and guide tradesmen or subcontractors during the execution of the works accordingly.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (recognized by Board of Engineers Malaysia - BEM).
Professional Status: Must be registered as a Graduate Engineer with BEM.
Experience: Minimum 15 years of site experience, with at least 5 years specifically in Marine/Coastal Construction.
Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret C&S drawings, reinforcement bar (REBAR) schedules, and JKR standard specifications.
Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
JKR Project Exposure: Familiarity with JKR’s S.O. (Superintending Officer) procedures, Request for Inspection (RFI) workflows, and JKR Standard Specifications for Building/Civil Works.
Marine Expertise: Experience in Sheet Piling, Marine Piling (Spun/RC), Breakwaters, or Jetty Construction. Understanding of "Concrete in Marine Environment" (High Performance Concrete, etc.).
Quality Control: Experience with QLASSIC or JKR’s internal quality assessment systems.
Site Operation Team Leader: Oversee daily site operations and technical matters including C&S works to ensure they align with approved Method Statements, Technical Drawings and relevant Specifications.
Liaison: Coordinate with JKR S.O.s and consultant’s Resident Engineer for site inspections, material approvals, and technical queries (TQ).
Marine Management: Monitor tidal charts and weather patterns to plan marine-based operations (barge movements, underwater concreting, etc.).
Progress Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly site reports and ensure the Work Programme (Master Schedule) is strictly followed. Plan and prepare weekly look ahead plan for implementation of work progress at site.
Site technical issues: Look into site technical issues and provide solutions through coordination with the Project Resident Engineer and guide tradesmen and subcontractors accordingly.
Quality Assurance: Conduct pre-concreting inspections and ensure material testing (cube tests, pile integrity tests) meets JKR requirements.
