Job summary

A leading technology management company in Malaysia, Penang, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction to the Purchasing department. The successful candidate will oversee procurement and planning processes while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. Key responsibilities include mentoring team members, managing crisis situations, and exemplifying company values. Candidates should possess at least a Bachelor's degree and extensive experience in the field, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of experience in the related field, or a Master's degree and at least 5 years of experience.
  • Previous management experience is required.

Job description
Purpose Statement

Provides leadership and strategic direction to the Purchasing department. Supports the team to achieve enduring goals of the department, site and region, while ensuring these remain aligned with corporate objectives.

Key Job Accountabilities
  • Escalation level for MTM on any customer/materials related issues
  • Oversee the total materials (procurement and planning) process
  • Provide mentoring/coaching to MTM, DA and buyers to ensure customer demands are well executed without compromising Plexus internal metrics
  • Work collaboratively with various functional teams to ensure contingency plans are in place to deal with changes/crisis situations
  • Responsible to exemplify and hold their team accountable to demonstrating the Plexus Core Values. Leader will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning, and ensuring their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.
Education/Experience Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 8 - 10+ years of experience in the related field, or a Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in the related field. Previous experience in a management role is required.
