The Senior Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of externally supplied components used in equipment integration. These include fabricated metal parts, cables (such as high-speed photonics, power, and RF cables), PCBAs, electronic module assemblies, and secondary surface treatment processes (e.g. anodizing, electroless nickel plating, electrophoretic coating, powder coating).
This role drives supplier quality performance through continuous process optimization, supplier qualification, risk management, and corrective action. The incumbent will also manage underperforming suppliers, support supply assurance strategies, and lead the development of a high-performing Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Supplier Sourcing to evaluate and qualify new suppliers through audits and quality system assessments
- Establish and maintain supplier quality agreements and requirements
- Support supply assurance strategies and supplier exit plans when performance cannot be improved
Supplier Quality Development
- Lead root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions with suppliers
- Drive supplier quality improvement programs aligned with internal quality standards
- Ensure predictable and stable quality performance across all supplied parts
Performance Monitoring & Risk Management
- Monitor supplier KPIs such as on-time delivery, product conformity, and process control compliance
- Conduct supplier risk assessments and implement mitigation and contingency plans to protect supply continuity
- Define and deploy leading KPIs with suppliers to achieve zero incoming defects, aligned with automotive standards
- Identify opportunities for supplier process and quality improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with suppliers
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve supplier quality issues
- Support frequent engineering change orders while balancing quality, cost, and delivery
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of audits, evaluations, and supplier performance
- Prepare management reports highlighting trends, risks, and improvement actions
Team Development
- Build and develop Supplier Quality Engineering team capabilities in quality engineering and supplier management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of supplier quality experience in manufacturing (strong PCBA exposure required)
- Solid knowledge of precision machining, fabrication, die casting, and surface treatments
- Deep hands‑on expertise in ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
- Strong command of quality tools: FMEA, SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, GR&R
- Confident communicator who can influence suppliers and senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to drive supplier performance turnaround
