Job summary

An accounting firm in Johor Bahru is seeking an experienced accountant to maintain full sets of accounts, prepare financial reports, and manage month-end closing processes. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of relevant experience, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A detail-oriented and adaptable professional who can work under pressure will thrive in this role. Knowledge of freight forwarding and Chinese would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain full sets of accounts, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets.
  • Ensure timely processing of all inter‑company transactions.
  • Manage the month‑end accounting and closing process.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Perform invoice and voucher entries accurately and timely.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with management reporting.
  • Prepare weekly cash‑flow forecasts, including Airline/Shippers and Accounts Payable components.
  • Manage Fixed Assets accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors on audit and taxation matters.
  • Ensure proper control and custody of accounting documents and maintain records in compliance with local regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and internal information, including payroll and profitability data.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, coordination, and task prioritization to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Undertake ad‑hoc assignments and other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and hands‑on experience with accounting systems/software.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in English and Malay (spoken and written).
  • Able to adapt and perform effectively in a fast‑paced working environment.
  • Deadline‑oriented, with the ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Freight forwarding experience and proficiency in Chinese will be an added advantage.
