A fast-growing FMCG company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to develop its sales strategy, primarily targeting the General Trade channel. Qualifications

Job Details

We are currently looking for an experienced Sales Manager for a fast-growing FMCG company specialising in canned food. This position is focused on building up the GT channel within Central, and requires your urgent attention.

  • Reporting to: Managing Director
  • Location: Central Region
  • 4 direct reports - Currently 2, expanding to 4
  • A high-impact role to restructure the territory, revive inactive accounts, and lead a growing sales team - offering a mix of stable base salary plus overriding commissions to drive a key category turnover.
The role
  • Spearhead the sales strategy for the Central region (primary focus) and North region (secondary), specifically targeting the General Trade (80%) and Modern Trade/LKA (20%) channels.
  • Restructure and optimize the Central region's coverage, identifying market gaps, reviving inactive accounts, and expanding the wholesaler and retailer network.
  • Lead, mentor, and expand the sales team, conducting joint field visits to improve trade execution and drive performance.
  • Manage key wholesaler relationships and negotiate trade terms to ensure sustainable revenue growth and distribution visibility.
The experience
  • Minimum 5 years of FMCG sales experience.
  • Strong existing network in General Trade (wholesalers/retailers) within the Central region is essential.
  • Proven people leadership experience with the ability to coach and manage a sales team.
  • A strategic thinker who can analyze market trends and competitor activities to guide commercial decisions.
