An Acoustic Panel Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs and contracts related to the procurement and installation of acoustic panels within construction or interior design projects. This role ensures financial viability, manages budgets, and facilitates timely project completion, with specific expertise in acoustic materials and systems.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Contract Stage
• Cost Estimation and Planning: Prepare detailed preliminary cost estimates and cost plans for acoustic panel systems based on architectural drawings and specifications.
• Quantity Take-off: Accurately calculate and measure the quantities of various acoustic materials required (panels, mounting hardware, insulation, etc.) for the project.
• Tendering and Procurement: Assist in preparing tender documents and Bills of Quantities (BoQ); solicit, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors; and assist in the negotiation and selection of the most cost-effective options.
• Feasibility and Risk Management: Conduct feasibility studies and identify potential financial or commercial risks related to the acoustic scope of work, developing mitigation strategies.
• Value Engineering: Advise on cost-effective alternative materials or installation methods without compromising the required acoustic performance or quality standards.
• Post-Contract Stage
• Cost Control and Monitoring: Monitor project costs against the established budget and track changes in design or scope (variation orders), adjusting budget projections accordingly.
• Contract Administration: Prepare, manage, and administer contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.
• Payment Management: Value the work completed on site, verify the accuracy of subcontractor progress claims/invoices, and arrange for timely payments.
• Liaison and Coordination: Act as a liaison between clients, architects, site managers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project progression and clear communication regarding the acoustic installation.
• Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all project costs, variations, and financial transactions, preparing regular budget reports and the final account for the client.
• Quality and Compliance: Ensure that the materials used and the installation work comply with project specifications, quality standards, and relevant building/acoustic regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is typically required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in quantity surveying software, MS Office (especially Excel), and the ability to read and interpret architectural and design drawings (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Specialized Knowledge: A sound understanding of construction technology, contract law, and specifically the properties, pricing, and installation methods of various acoustic panels/systems.
• Soft Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude, attention to detail, negotiation skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience: Relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably with exposure to interior fit-out or specialized installations, is often desired.
