Job summary

A leading multinational company in Penang is seeking a Purchasing Manager responsible for overseeing commodities within the site. The ideal candidate will manage sourcing, negotiate with suppliers, and ensure compliance with company policies. Required qualifications include a master's degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment are essential. Our client is a MNC with a manufacturing site in Penang.

Main mission:

The Purchasing Manager will have responsibility across full commodities within Penang site in accordance with the global strategy identified by our client.

Through efficient sourcing of materials, services & solutions, the Purchasing Manager shall strengthen our client's competitive position by maximizing supplier value, proactively managing business risks & contributing to the creation of value for the Customer.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage request for quotations and proposals as needed, to procure items or benchmark current sources
  • Place purchase orders in support of indirect purchasing needs
  • Review quotes and proposals from suppliers and negotiate as needed to ensure best pricing and service
  • Work with suppliers, and stakeholders to resolve payment, services, or supply discrepancies
  • Monitor orders and work with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of goods or services
  • Work with stakeholders in the organization to setup new suppliers as needed
  • Ensure the set up and follow up of the commercial agreements, especially concerning Price, Quality, Schedule and Logistics conditions for both direct and indirect purchasing.
  • Support the development of localization strategies working closely with the global commodity team, with R&D project teams and with Supply Chain.
  • Serve as escalation point for Buyers in the resolution of potential issues.
  • Achieve cost savings target or goal as determined by leadership
  • Ensure due diligence is deployed in relation to our client Group Policies, Code of Conduct, Procedures, Global Terms & Conditions and Confidentiality

Requirements:

  • Degree: Master 2
  • 5 Years experience in similar role
  • Soft skills: International and multicultural experience, effective and tough negotiator, rigorous and autonomous; focused, organized and results oriented
