A construction project management firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee interior fit-out and construction projects. Responsibilities include ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has 7-10 years of relevant experience and skills in planning, cost control, and team leadership. Fluency in Bahasa Melayu and English is required, with Mandarin as a plus. This role demands strong decision-making abilities and effective communication skills.
Take full ownership of interior fit-out and construction projects from planning to handover.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, quality, and safety requirements.
Develop project execution plans, work programs, and manpower schedules.
Monitor progress against approved schedules and implement recovery and mitigation plans where required.
Track critical activities, risks, and dependencies.
Lead, mentor, and manage site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Enforce structured site management, discipline, and accountability.
Ensure efficient use of manpower, materials, and equipment on site.
Manage project budgets, cost tracking, variations, and progress claims.
Coordinate with Quantity Surveyors on claims, VO, and final accounts.
Control cost overruns through proactive planning and corrective actions.
Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and industry standards.
Enforce site safety practices and compliance with Malaysian construction and safety regulations.
Act as the key coordination point with clients, consultants, designers, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Conduct regular project and site meetings with clear action tracking.
Prepare and submit clear progress reports, risk assessments, cost updates, and key issues to Management.
Maintain proper project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and site records.
Identify potential project risks, delays, or coordination issues early.
Resolve site, technical, and coordination challenges decisively.
Oversee project completion, handover, defects rectification, and Defects Liability Period (DLP).
Ensure smooth close-out and client satisfaction.
Improve project workflows, site processes, reporting standards, and management systems.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or related fields.
Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in construction or interior fit-out projects.
Proven experience managing projects from start to completion.
Strong track record leading site supervisors and multiple subcontractors.
Solid understanding of construction methods, interior fit-out works, and site coordination.
Strong skills in planning, scheduling, cost control, and site management.
Proficient in MS Office and MS Project (Primavera P6 is an added advantage).
Strong leadership presence with the ability to organize teams and drive accountability.
Able to communicate clearly and confidently with Management and stakeholders.
Fluent in Bahasa Melayu and English; Mandarin is a strong advantage.
Mature, organised, hands-on, and solution-driven.
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Willing to travel to project sites as required.
