ROLE: DC Engineering Mgr (office engineer)
Overall Role
Responsible for managing the M&E services and ensuring the effectiveness of the overall planned preventive maintenance program. Assist the DC Site lead in providing site facility management (operation & maintenance), including procedure management, incident and escalation management, HSE management, procurement & vendor management, helpdesk team management and technical team management. Must be Certified Data Centre Professional. To achieve excellence in preventative and reactive maintenance programs incorporating industry best practice, including site setup documentation, innovative maintenance techniques and statutory and contractual compliance. Oversee day-to-day management and control of all plant, mechanical and electrical systems and coordinate remedial action in the event of critical incidents. Provide supervision and direction to multi-skilled Engineering Operations teams made up of directly employed staff and appointed vendors. Ensure that all staff and vendors employed within the client’s facilities strictly adhere to client and JLL’s policies and procedures. Reports to the account-based Plant Supervisor (DC Site Lead).
Responsibilities
- Facility Management (Operation & Maintenance): assist in implementing operation-related standards and procedures, preventive & planned maintenance programs, repair & replacement initiatives, and helpdesk management. Minimize the risk of plant failure.
- Recommend continuous management initiatives and energy management plans. Actively search for opportunities to achieve better results and increase energy efficiency (PUE – Power Utilization Efficiency).
- Create and update the site asset register and ensure statutory compliance is in place.
- Review stock levels of the required inventory of spares on site.
- Maintain sound written and oral communication; prepare presentations for client review meetings.
- Manage ad-hoc related projects; competent in undertaking Job Hazards Analysis (JHA).
- Submit relevant reporting data and ensure timely submission to Facilities Manager.
- Provide 2nd level support and manage site operation in the absence of Facilities Manager.
HSE Management
- Ensure the site provides a safe working environment and compliance with HSE standards.
- Undertake Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) where competent.
- Support the HSE Champion.
- Work closely with HSE Executive in planning, executing and delivering HSE procedures to all activities at site.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Conduct performance assessment of technical vendors and ensure deliveries meet agreed SLA/KPI.
- Assist the team to ensure vendor procurement processes comply with Client and JLL guidelines.
Technical Team Management
- Prepare job descriptions for all technical staff and assign relevant manpower to tasks; provide advice on work schedules.
- Prepare the job description for Helpdesk Administrator and ensure SLA/KPI adherence with superior customer service management.
- Provide training to on-site teams on equipment operational procedures, including emergency procedures and requirements.
- Coordinate and maintain the site asset database, provide updates per CMMS requirements.
- Prepare input for the site’s monthly client reporting; ensure compliance with fire, health and safety standards.
- Maintain safety procedures, including Crisis Management/Business Continuity and Emergency Procedures.
- Ensure maintenance documentation meets required standards and provides sufficient information for asset management.
- Participate in site reviews (maintenance standards, equipment replacement, security, change control, single points of failure, Tier adherence, and operational risk).
- Perform additional tasks as required by the Site Lead.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in mechanical, electrical or operational engineering.
- 3–4 years of relevant experience in engineering or critical environment space.
- 33kV Chargeman Certificate is advantageous.
- 1–2 years’ experience operating electrical and mechanical services in Tier III or equivalent data centre or critical facility.
- Excellent people skills and ability to interact with client and vendor staff.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, client relationship management and report preparation.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge in M&E and building systems (CRAU, chillers, PDU, UPS, switchgear ops, DX cooling, network cabling, security).
- Lead major DC activities during non-office hours where appropriate.
