Job summary

A leading industrial gas company in Malaysia seeks a Process Engineer to provide technical support for operations across Southeast Asia. The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Engineering (preferred in Chemical Engineering) and at least 5 years of experience in process engineering within hydrogen or complex chemical plants. Strong problem-solving skills in process troubleshooting, optimization, and energy efficiency are essential. The role includes project management responsibilities and requires travel across Southeast Asia.

• Plant Engineer/Supervisor backgrounds are okay with strong process engineering responsibilities.
• Experience in Advanced Controls/DCS tuning is an advantage.

Job Description

Provide process and plant engineering technical support to maintain efficient and reliable product supplies to HyCO plants across all countries in Southeast Asia.

Identifying, leading, and completing Asset Management productivity projects aimed at improving efficiency, cost position, plant capacity and/or reliability.

Providing plant/process technical support including troubleshooting and resolution of operating problems, plant optimization controls and strategies, plant reliability and product supply issues.

Provide support for capital projects (capacity, efficiency upgrades, training, start up & commissioning) as requested by Project Delivery Organization, Plant Project organization and Plant Maintenance organization.

Assist sites teams in monitoring energy efficiency relative to budget and drive year-to-year improvements.

Engagement with Operation team and Plant Mgrs, Global Engineering Service Mgrs and Business Leads to align with asset management opportunities and commercial priorities.

Provide Advanced Controls (MPC, APACS) implementation and plant tuning support.

Provide technical and safety reviews for Management of Change’s and drive process safety compliance as part of engineering reviews.

Provide process safety supported to the facilities, including Operating Process Hazard Reviews and corrective actions, supporting RCA investigations, and BSP leadership.

Provide turnaround support.

Review monthly plant performance report and maintain plant data in PPM and Qliksense system.

Provide process training for plant operation team.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred).

Minimum 5 years’ Process Engineering experience in hydrogen, syngas, HyCO/SMR/PSA/PHG, or complex chemical plants.

Plant Engineer / Supervisor / Manager backgrounds are acceptable if you have strong process engineering responsibilities (troubleshooting, optimization, APC/DCS tuning, RCA, MOC).

Strong experience in process troubleshooting, plant optimization, energy efficiency and reliability improvement.

Familiarity with process safety (HAZOP/OPHR, MOC reviews) and supporting RCA investigations.

Experience with Advanced Controls / DCS tuning (e.g., MPC, APACS) is an advantage.

Experience in Large SMR operations, H₂ PSA, or PHG is a plus.

Willing to be based in Banting (preferred) or Westport, with travel across Southeast Asia.
