Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Planning Specialist to conduct forensic and delay analysis for projects. The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of project planning experience, including proficiency in Primavera P6 and strong analytical skills. This role involves collaborating with teams to investigate delays, prepare evidence-based reports, and present findings effectively. Opportunities for training and knowledge sharing within teams are also part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • At least 2-3 years in forensic delay analysis or claims.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling.

Job description
Planning Specialist (Forensic and Delay Analysis)

Investigate & Analyse: Conduct forensic schedule analysis using methodologies such as Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis, and As-Planned vs As-Built to determine causes of delay.

Build the Case: Review project documentation — daily reports, correspondence, change orders, RFIs — to identify and substantiate delay events.

Quantify & Report: Prepare clear, evidence-based reports to support and defend Extension of Time (EOT), disruption, and prolongation claims.

Collaborate & Advise: Partner with project managers, commercial teams, and legal counsel to present findings for negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation.

Master the Critical Path: Track and analyse shifts in project critical paths across the lifecycle.

Share Knowledge: Support training and development of planning and project teams in forensic analysis principles.

What You’ll Bring
  • 7+ years’ experience in project planning and scheduling, including at least 2-3 years in forensic delay analysis or claims.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and construction contracts (AS, FIDIC, NEC).
  • Exceptional analytical, written, and presentation skills.
