We are seeking a qualified, energetic individual to join our hospital as a Pharmacy Manager.
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily business operations of the pharmacy department, including dispensing prescription medication and ensuring prompt delivery of accurate, efficient, and quality service to meet customers’ expectations or to improve patient outcomes. Other duties entail managing the pharmacy staff, and inventory, and ensuring compliance to establish standards of professional practice.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Administration
- Provide leadership and direction to the pharmacy team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with hospital administration to develop and manage the pharmacy budget.
Medication Management
- Ensure the safe and accurate dispensing of medications to patients in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversee medication order review and verification, including dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Monitor drug utilization and assist in formulary management.
Inventory Control
- Maintain optimal inventory levels, ensuring the availability of essential medications and minimizing waste.
- Implement strategies to control pharmaceutical costs while maintaining quality patient care.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy practices.
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs to monitor and improve medication safety.
- Participate in accreditation surveys and inspections.
Staff Supervision and Development
- Recruit, train, and evaluate pharmacy staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Schedule and manage pharmacy staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and patient outcomes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary committees and provide expertise on medication-related issues.
Technology and Automation
- Implement and maintain pharmacy automation systems to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Stay current with advancements in pharmacy technology.
Education and Requirements
- Possess a Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
- Registered Pharmacist with the Malaysian Board of Pharmacy.
- Possess a poison license (License A) to practice in the hospital pharmacy premises.
- Familiar with hospital practices, guidelines, and regulations in relation to compounding and apportioning medications.
- Adequate knowledge of business in relation to the organization of a hospital pharmacy.
- Strong organizational skills and superb attention to detail.
- Knowledge in purchasing and inventory control.
- Have a good command of both English and Bahasa Malaysia (verbal and written) and am able to communicate with all levels of people and departments.
- Able to work independently.
- Possess good managerial and leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills and good judgement.
