Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Penang is seeking an experienced professional to manage daily assembly operations for complex semiconductor equipment. Responsibilities include ensuring production quality, leading a team of supervisors, and driving cost reduction initiatives. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering and at least 7 years of experience in production, with strong proficiency in GD&T and familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles. Fluency in Mandarin is preferred for effective communication.

Job description

Plan, schedule, and manage daily assembly operations for complex semiconductor equipment.

Ensure production output meets design specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, QA, and Logistics to ensure alignment on production goals.

Monitor WIP (Work-In-Progress) and bottlenecks, taking corrective actions to avoid delays.

2. People Management

Lead, train, and motivate a team of supervisors, technicians, and assemblers.

Manage team performance, set clear KPIs, and conduct regular performance reviews.

Promote a culture of discipline, safety, accountability, and teamwork.

3. Quality & Compliance

Implement and maintain rigorous in-process quality checks and final testing standards.

Work closely with QA to resolve non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.

Support internal and customer audits as required.

Identify opportunities for process improvement using lean manufacturing, 6S, and Kaizen.

Drive cost reduction initiatives through process optimization, scrap reduction, and yield improvement.

Collaborate with Engineering on design-for-manufacturing (DFM) improvements.

5. Equipment and Resource Management

Ensure availability and maintenance of assembly tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment.

Oversee material usage and inventory control in coordination with warehouse and material teams.

Support the implementation of MES or ERP systems for better tracking and control.

Requirements
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline.

Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in production/assembly, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience in semiconductor SMT / Box Build is highly preferred.
  • Metal boxbuild assembly experience, such as Power Box, PDU, semi‑conductor industrial metal boxbuild assembly.
  • Metal welding, coating/plating requirements & metal boxbuild product drawing understanding.
  • Box build electrical & functionality testing equipment & procedure.
  • Experience on Lean Mfg principles, process improvement methodologies & problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lead the CFT team on Production capacity planning to meet OTD, improvement to drive the Quality/Productivity & Efficiency.
  • Experience on using AutoCAD/SolidWorks/CATIA/Creo software.
  • Strong proficiency in GD&T is required.
  • Candidates who are fluent in Mandarin are preferred because the role requires candidates to interact with Mandarin‑speakers.
