Position Overview

The MES engineer, based at Insulet’s state of the art manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES). The primary responsibility of the MES engineer is to support and optimize the Siemens Camstar MES (Opcenter Execution Core) platform, facilitating its integration and ongoing operation within Insulet’s Malaysia manufacturing facility. The MES engineer will leverage experience with MES solutions and a deep understanding of Camstar modeling to contribute to the successful ongoing operation of the MES system. This role is crucial for maintaining data integrity, enabling real-time production monitoring, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations in the medical device sector.

Through its OmniPod Insulin Management System, Insulet seeks to expand the use of insulin pump therapy among people with insulin-dependent diabetes. Insulet's Delivery Systems business also partners with global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to tailor the OmniPod technology platform for the delivery of subcutaneous drugs across multiple therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and 3rd party integrator on implementation, maintenance and improvement project of the Siemens Camstar MES (Opcenter Execution Core) system, focusing on Insulet’s expansion in Johor.
  • Develop and maintain Camstar Modeling to adapt the MES to evolving production processes and requirements.
  • Utilize expertise in MS SQL to create and optimize queries, stored procedures, functions, and indexes for data retrieval and manipulation within the MES.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards, including the ISA95 model and Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) principles.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot MES interfaces with Level 2 PLC, SCADA, and Level 4 ERP systems (such as SAP) to facilitate seamless and accurate data exchange in timely manner.
  • Drive data analysis and reporting efforts, leveraging manufacturing data collected by Camstar MES to generate meaningful reports and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Customize and extend the capabilities of Camstar MES through proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, or SQL.
  • Oversee IIS deployment and management as part of the MES infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with IT/ERP teams to ensure the proper functioning of OPC, XML, and webAPI components.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations in the medical device/pharmaceutical domain and uphold data integrity and security standards.
Education and Experience
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on experience supporting Siemens Camstar MES (Opcenter Execution Core).
  • Experience in the development and implementation of MES solutions, particularly in greenfield manufacturing facility startups.
  • Proficiency in MS SQL, including the ability to create and optimize queries, stored procedures, functions, and indexes.
  • Understanding of the ISA95 model and MOM principles.
  • Experience with OPC, XML, and webAPI.
  • Hands‑on experience with Opcenter Connect MOM.
  • Familiarity with MES interfaces, including Level 2 PLC, SCADA, and Level 4 ERP systems (such as SAP).
  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing industry, preferably in medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
  • Programming and scripting proficiency in languages such as Java, C#, or SQL.
