Role Purpose

As the Manager, Growth and Business Incubation, you will shape Setel’s next generation of growth engines. You will identify, validate and incubate new business opportunities through structured testing, commercial discipline and hands‑on execution.

This role blends strategic thinking with real operational impact. You will bring commercial clarity into every idea, assessing P&L implications, aligning opportunities with Setel’s growth trajectory and risk appetite, and translating concepts into tangible business results.

You will partner closely with product, engineering, partnerships, operations and finance, operating with a high degree of independence and ownership. The role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, solves problems end‑to‑end, and keeps momentum high even when things get complex. Ultimately, you will turn promising ideas into validated, scalable ventures, driving both strategic direction and practical delivery across the organisation.

In this role you will
  • Lead end‑to‑end opportunity scouting to build a robust pipeline of new growth bets for Setel. Conduct structured market sensing, competitive analysis and customer insight mapping to surface unmet needs and high‑potential themes. Prioritise and shortlist opportunities using clear commercial logic, P&L impact, strategic fit and alignment with Setel’s risk appetite.
  • Drive rigorous business validation through experiments, pilots and customer testing to determine viability before scaling. Design and run structured experiments, MVPs and pilots to test desirability, feasibility and viability. Analyse results and refine concepts quickly to determine product‑market fit before scaling. Track pilot performance, analyse results, and make data‑driven recommendations for pivot/scale/kill decisions.
  • Develop comprehensive business cases with full commercial, financial and risk assessments to support sound investment decisions. Build revenue models, P&L projections and risk assessments that quantify commercial impact. Align business cases with finance and senior stakeholders to enable informed investment decisions.
  • Lead cross‑functional execution to translate validated ideas into operationalised, customer‑ready solutions. Work closely with product, engineering, partnerships, operations and finance to convert ideas into launch‑ready solutions. Resolve blockers proactively and keep delivery momentum high across all workstreams.
  • Oversee venture incubation from concept to scale readiness, ensuring strong traction and operational discipline. Track venture performance, customer feedback and operational readiness throughout incubation. Drive continuous iteration and decision‑making to prepare ventures for scale or pivot.
You're a great fit if you have
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Strategy, Economics, Analytics, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Additional certifications in strategy, design thinking, analytics, venture building or growth are an advantage.
  • 4–7 years of experience in strategy, growth, consulting, business incubation, venture building, or product roles with direct exposure to commercial decision‑making.
  • Proven experience validating new business ideas, designing tests, running pilots and translating outcomes into clear commercial recommendations.
  • Strong foundation in customer research, market sizing, financial modelling and commercial case development.
  • Experience working in digital, technology, fintech, mobility, or platform‑based environments, preferably in high‑growth or fast‑moving settings.
  • Comfortable working independently and driving cross‑functional initiatives from ambiguity to clarity and execution.
Technical/Functional Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with the ability to simplify complexity into actionable insights.
  • Commercially minded with solid skills in financial modelling, market analysis and P&L thinking.
  • Ability to design and run structured experiments (MVPs, pilots, A/B tests) to validate desirability, feasibility and viability.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear logic and data.
  • Strong project management and cross‑functional leadership capability to drive alignment and delivery.
  • Data‑driven mindset; comfortable using insights, dashboards and KPIs to guide decisions and measure impact.
