Qualifications

• Support CHEP’s Zero Harm and CHEP Safe programs by actively participating in safety initiatives.
• Oversee OHS&E compliance for all on-site contractors.
• Contribute to the Risk Assessment (RA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the appointed Competent Person as required under applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with Malaysian legal standards.
• Support CHEP’s Zero Harm and CHEP Safe programs by actively participating in safety initiatives, hazard reporting, and the implementation of safe work practices across the Service Centre.
• Oversee OHS&E compliance for all on‑site contractors, ensuring that induction, work permits, and safe operating procedures are followed at all times.
• Contribute to the Risk Assessment (RA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) processes by conducting assessments, identifying hazards, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to reduce operational risks.
• Apply continuous improvement tools and methodologies to enhance plant performance, improve equipment reliability, and reduce operational costs.
• Support and participate in all facility maintenance and site services activities, including repairs, upkeep of infrastructure, and coordination of service providers when required.
• Maintain optimal stock levels of spare parts and consumables, ensuring availability of critical components to minimize downtime and support scheduled maintenance activities.
• Provide call‑out and emergency response support when required, ensuring rapid action to restore operations safely and efficiently.
• Ensure a safe and injury‑free workplace by adhering to CHEP’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining machinery in a safe, compliant, and operational condition. This includes proactively addressing hazards and maintaining equipment to prevent risks to employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Respond promptly to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic breakdowns, ensuring timely rectification and restoration of equipment to minimize operational disruptions.
• Support continuous improvement of machinery efficiency and reliability by analyzing recurring faults, assisting with root‑cause investigations, and recommending sustainable technical solutions.
• Review and contribute to the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program regularly to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and relevance, with the objective of reducing unplanned downtime and extending equipment life cycles.
